Barbara Lima is a Brazilian dancer, choreographer, and artistic director with over 20 years of experience in Contemporary and Urban Dance. Currently based in Oregon on the Pacific Northwest coast of the United States, she began dancing at a young age as a classical ballerina. However, it was as a teenager, when she joined the street dance group Xstyle on a concrete stage at a beachside park in Rio de Janeiro, where she was born and raised, that she truly discovered the impact and potential of uniting dance and community. She brings a fierce yet elegant feminine force to the movement industry and is recognized for her unique style. Her genius lies in weaving eclectic movement modalities and voice through a kinesthetic and somatic framework, empowering and inspiring both performers and audiences alike. Her talent extends into multiple areas of expertise, including stage direction and choreography, live performance, production, writing, mentoring, and visionary project leadership.
